Stovetop Tuna Casserole

The invention of the microwave oven made cooking food very quick but I think that often we over estimate the value of these appliances. While we were travelling we stayed in a Motel that only had a microwave oven to cook with and it was certainly useful to have recipes for microwave meals but it did make me realise that often the microwave is not really faster. So tonight I tried experimenting with a new recipe and cooked it on the stovetop. It took very little time and was almost certainly quicker than if I had used the microwave.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Macaroni
  • 2 cups Water (or drain the tuna and top up to 2 cups with fresh water)
  • 2 cups Frozen Peas (or any other frozen vegetables)
  • 1 cup Milk (I use lactose free)
  • 2 cups Grated Cheese (any combination that you like)
  • 1 tsp Mustard Powder
  • 1 large tin Tuna, drained

Method:

Cook the Macaroni and Peas in the Water until cooked. Stir in all the other ingredients and cook over a low temperature until gooey.
